SAN DIEGO, Calif. – IPS Group, Inc. (www.ipsgroupinc.com) is proud to announce its partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) in support of the expansion of the LA Express Park program into Westwood. IPS recently installed its M5™ connected single-space parking meters and integrated vehicle detection sensors in Westwood, Los Angeles. The installation was commemorated by a ceremony attended by Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilmember Paul Koretz, LADOT General Manager Seleta Reynolds, Westwood Village Improvement Association Executive Director Andrew Thomas and representatives from IPS, FHWA-California, CALTRANS, Xerox, ParkMobile and ParkMe, as well as local and community leaders.
As the inventor of the credit card-enabled single-space parking meter, IPS has sold more than 200,000 wireless devices across North America and is the leading provider of intelligent parking technologies. The smart parking meters installed in Westwood offer customers the ability to pay with credit/debit card, smart card, coin, contactless payment and even their mobile phone. Each IPS smart parking meter and sensor is wirelessly integrated into the IPS Data Management System for remote monitoring, configuration and data analytics, with the ability to integrate with other third-party data sources, specifically Xerox Merge™. “IPS is proud to continue its involvement with the LA Express Park program,” says David King, CEO of IPS Group. When IPS smart parking meters are paired with IPS sensors, the system provides real-time data on occupancy, revenue, and meter health. “IPS has revolutionized the industry with a portfolio of smart parking solutions which are driving the trend toward ‘Smart Cities.’ The LA Express Park program truly embodies what a ‘Smart City’ looks like and can serve as a model for how other municipalities can use data and technology to improve efficiency and enrich the customer experience,” stated King.
The LA Express Park program is aimed at improving parking availability and reducing congestion through the use of dynamic (demand-based) pricing to adjust pricing and time limits based on actual occupancy. The program was first introduced in downtown Los Angeles in 2012 and has expanded to include Westwood in light of the high demand for parking and increased congestion due to growing levels of retail activity and entertainment venues.
