IPS is showcasing its sensors at the IPMI Parking & Mobility Conference & Expo in New Orleans, LA.  

The Stereoscopic Sensors integrate with IPS Single-Space Parking Meters to detect space vacancy and occupancy. Parking managers can monitor real-time and historic occupancy trends that influence data-driven policy decisions such as demand-based rates, parking schedules, and enforcement processes.  

Compared to other vehicle detection sensors, the Stereoscopic Sensors offer the highest accuracy, longest battery life, greater auditing function, and easiest installation and maintenance. The high-precision vehicle detection is attributed to the combination of stereoscopic and magnetometer technology that captures different image and sensing perspectives and 3D coordinates. 

360˚ Smart Parking Management  

IPS sensor data synchronizes with the entire IPS Fully Integrated Smart Parking Ecosystem, including the Data Management System (DMS) a centralized data analytics and business intelligence reporting application;  Enforcement Management Solution and PARK SMARTER™ mobile payment application. The sensor supports real-time web-based data feeds in the DMS that enable visual dashboard reports, enforcement routing, and PARK SMARTER™ parking finder feature.  

Increased Revenue  

The meter reset feature has been proven to increase revenue by 25 – 50%. It works by resetting the meter to zero time when a vehicle leaves a parking space so that when a new customer arrives, they are responsible for the entire cost of their session and do not piggyback off the previous session.  

The City of Santa Monica, Calif. recently upgraded their single-space parking network which included Stereoscopic Sensors. By implementing policy changes and the reset function, the City experienced a positive return on investment and revenue gains.  

“The Stereoscopic Sensor paid for itself because each reset annualized over our 6,500 single-space meters generates an additional $1.4 million a year in Santa Monica,” said Henry Servin, Parking Manager for the Santa Monica Department of Transportation. 

Easy Installation and Maintenance 

Installation takes just minutes and requires minimal tools or labor, and no invasive concrete work. The Stereoscopic Sensor models include a dome mount that integrates into the meter’s protective dome, or a pole mount option.
