SMART SOLUTIONS THAT REDUCE YOUR
CITY’S CARBON FOOTPRINT

Discover how leveraging connected parking data can influence policy decisions that promote sustainability.

Smart Cities today have sustainability objectives targeted not only on the present, but also with respect to future generations. The use of Smart Parking technology in modern urban environments goes beyond creating operational efficiencies, revenue-generating opportunities, and parking accessibility. Purposefully leveraging connected parking data can influence policy decisions that promote sustainability.

HOW IPS SMART PARKING SOLUTIONS PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY

SMART FEATURES

Paperless Processes

We provide online self-help resources to our customers, as well as online portals that allow the public to pay citations or apply for permits completely online. This reduces paper forms, trips to municipal offices, and the need for printed materials.

Wayfinding

Using a combination of our meter, sensor, and mobile app technologies, cities can offer “wayfinding”— the ability to find available spaces with a phone app—thereby reducing the carbon waste of congestion and circling.

24/7 Remote Monitoring

Our cloud-based back-end management system gives a birds-eye view of maintenance needs and parking violations, allowing strategic route planning and reducing unnecessary field patrolling.

HARDWARE

Solar Power

Our Smart Parking Meters and Pay Stations operate on a combination solar power and battery system as standard to maximize battery life and reduce battery waste. We also never use environmentally toxic nickel-cadmium batteries.

Built Durable to Last

We build durable equipment from the start, with stainless steel as a standard feature. As a result, many first-generation IPS meters are still in operation today! This reduces the unnecessary waste of frequent replacement.

Upcycled Hardware

Depending on the case, we can reuse single-space meter posts and housings, as well as reuse pay station cabinets with our Pay Station Upgrade Kits. This keeps more equipment out of landfills and maximizes the use of older hardware while still offering the latest technology features.

Recyclable Plastics

Some of our meter components are plastic, including Lexan coverings. These are all responsibly recycled into new plastic parts whenever possible, reducing waste in landfills.

IPS Group is committed to sustainable business and manufacturing processes that minimize the environmental impact

IPS Sustainability Efforts have led to:

  • IPS solar-power meters have kept an estimated 60,000 batteries out of LA landfills each year.1
  • An annual reduction of 34,192 metric tons of CO2 due to use of IPS Smart Parking Meters according to Verizon Wireless.2
